I’m Back

Got back from Italy last night, good to be back in the good ol’ USA!  Did not get to do any bass fishing done over in Italy.  Although, I had got a hold of fellow BASS Federation Nation members over there, just ran out of time

Plan to get out on Lake Marion a couple nights this week to start practicing for the Pan-o-Prog tournament.  Look for updates on that this week, things are very busy after being off work for 9 days.

What does this have to do with Bass Fishing?

That is what you are probably asking yourself….
Well, now that my house is on the market, I will have more time for fishing and keeping new content on this Blog

So here is what I have been working on to get ready for market since I got back from Amistad.  So check it out, maybe you have some friends looking for a great house in Lakeville.  It has an extra deep finished & insulated garage that fits my 19′ bass boat with no problem & you can get your tow vehicle inside right next to it.

And it is located to 3 great bass fishing lakes, Marion, Crystal & Orchard and a stones throw from Prior.

If you really interested, check out the actual listing as well as the Virtual Tour!!!

Last night I actually spent time, digging out my boat, sorting & organizing my fishing stuff, felt good!

Wish me Luck….

Monday Bass Fishing Randomness April 23rd, 2007

I think Monday Bass Fishing Randomness could be a regular feature….

Let’s start by congratulating Mike McClelland on running down Chris Lane on the final day at Clarks Hills Reservoir.  Sounds like Mike’s Jewel jig strikes again, to give him his second win in as many years.  Also, of note Derek Remitz aka the Wolverine or Next Big Thing turns in another solid Top 5 and anchors my fantasy team when the likes of Steve Kennedy & KVD let me down a little this week.  On the flip side, consistency of Skeet Reese and the late addition of Casey Ashley helped me maintain a 13th best overall in the nation, as well as close the point margin to #1

I have decided to leave my roster as is for Guntersville, my top 4 guys are & have been studs and I do not see any better options then Mr. Ashley for his $ value, plus he is supposed to be a damn good singer.

Team   Totals   Value
ANGLER HOMETOWN   RANK POINTS   MARKET LOCKED
VanDam, Kevin Kalamazoo, MI   4 398   16.6 15.7
Remitz, Derek Hemphill, TX   2 493   5.3 4.4
Kennedy, Steve Auburn, AL   3 425   9.6 10.0
Reese, Skeet Auburn, CA   1 575   16.5 15.3
Ashley, Casey Donalds, SC   30 195   4.8 4.4
Total Rating   52.8 49.8

On the flip, side my Super 6 has not been stellar this year, so here is my guys for Guntersville….

1 Kevin VanDam (edit) 1
2 Gerald Swindle (edit) 2
3 Steve Kennedy (edit) 3
4 Michael Iaconelli (edit) 4
5 Timmy Horton (edit) 5
6 Alton Jones (edit) 6

Hopefully these guys will help me run down Mr. Veech!

Let’s talk about some cool bass websites that I have found of late:
ToyotaFishing.com – follows the Toyota Tundra team on the tour, they have web video episodes that are pretty cool.  Scroggins, Hack, Wolak, Ike, KVD & More
BassZone.com – This site is top notch, live chat, blog & video updates during competition days at Elite Series events, plus video wraps ups with the winners and more!

Also, thanks to those that made my seminar on Saturday, many of you were very interested in the flipping snell knot, see this post!  Also, two more subscribers hopped on board over the weekend, thank you #26 & #27!

Milestone

Believe or not, today I reached 25 subscribers, that have subscribed with their email on the upper left corner of the sidebar.  I do not know who it is or who any of you are, as I do not get to see your emails or IP’s.  So thanks to all of you.

Also, I will be doing a free seminar this Saturday morning at 10am at the Medina Ballroom on Bass Fishing & Tungsten.  This will be right before the actual MN Bass Federation Nation meeting, open to public and also free.  At 9am, Dale Richardson will be doing a seminar on boat performance.

My Bad

I want to apologize for not having any posts of late, but work schedule and trying to get our house ready to sell has kept me swamped    Give me a holla, if you know of anyone looking for a home in Lakeville….
Hopefully once we are up on the market, I can get back to my routine, plus WI bass opener is only about 18 days away.  I was hoping to get to the river for some bass fishing in April sometime, but that is not looking good right now.  I feel bad for my boat, it keeps looking at me with a sad face wonder when we are going out this spring.

On another note, had a couple minutes to freshen up my main site (RichLindgren.com), got a new header on all the pages with some help from Rick over at AIG Outdoors, (Thanks, Rick), and also updated some pics and other info.  Let me know if you like the changes.

In case you missed, the Toyota Texas Bass Classic was this past weekend on Lake Fork, TX.  It was put on by the PAA, looked like a great event, did not get to watch much of it.  Check Bass Pundit, he had some time to write a few blurbs about it.

Killing Me

Man, work is killing me.  Travel to Charlotte, NC.  The weather is beautiful and Lake Wylie is just minutes away!
No time for any fun stuff, the Lake just sits there and torments me.  I am also 30 minutes from a nice big Bass Pro Shop, but dinner obligations prohibit a visit.  Is there no justice in this world?

Here is a cool site, that I have been meaning to feature – CarpBusters.com
You may ask, why does Rich care about Carp?  He is a die hard bass rube….
This is a group that holds tournaments & events for fishermen and bow fishermen in non-release events for carp and other exotic species.  So they make sport out of reducing the number of carp in our fisheries!  Here me knocking now?  Tell all your buddies that have bows and go out and shoot some carp!!!

On another note, all you that have young fisher people that you know.  Our club is holding a BASS CastingKids event at Gander Mountain in Lakeville this Saturday 10:30am – 1:00pm.  Free, kids from 7-14 welcome, they all learn a little about flipping, pitching & casting and win some great prizes!  More info @ GopherBass.com

> Performance edge – “My depthfinder on the bow, just because I was able to keep the front of my boat right over that edge, and know where to throw. And I think they ate that jig pretty good too. I think they’d eat just about anything, but I had a lot of confidence throwing that football-head.”

Northland Tackle & Dean Rojas Unite

BassFan.com reports that Dean Rojas just signed a deal with Northland Tackle.  Most of you up here in MN & WI are very familiar with Northland Tackle, for their Junge Jigs and Slurpie Products.

Northland signs Rojas 3/2/2007

BassFans who hail from the Upper Midwest know all about the “Wall of Yellow” in almost every tackle shop – that gigantic wall of yellow bins with every type of Northland jig imaginable. But Northland Fishing Tackle’s not just about walleye, which it proved when it recently signed Elite Series pro Dean Rojas to its pro staff.

According to Northland, Rojas has been added to its Team Northland staff, and will promote the brand through tournaments and seminars, plus in-store and sportshow promotions.

About the deal, Rojas said: “In an effort to remain at the top of my sport going into the 2007 Bassmaster Elite Series, I’ve partnered with Northland Fishing Tackle to use and promote their premium line of soft plastics, specialty jigs, spoons, and worm weights. Northland’s line of Slurpies soft plastics are the most realistic and productive plastics I’ve ever used. They feature holographic FishFlakes and are salted and spiced with SowSauce.”

Northland president John Peterson said: “Dean is a true professional angler and we have the highest regard for his past accomplishments and future potential. Dean and I have teamed up with our engineers to design some very innovative and exciting new products for 2008. We’re going to combine my 37 years of manufacturing expertise with his knowledge and uncanny ability to modify lures to catch more and bigger bass. Look for the Dean Rojas Signature Series baits coming soon. You won’t be disappointed.”

This is kind of exciting for a MN company like Northland to back an Elite Series pro, I would expect them to come out with some more bass intenisve products

On another note, I just talk to Elite Series Pro Derek Remitz.  He was out on Lake Wheeler breaking in his new boat.  We chatted for a bit and if all goes well, we are going to go out on the water on Wednesday to practice on Amistad.  Should be a blast!!!

Jottings from Presidentts’ Day

Where to start, where to start….

Congrats to the Jr. Anglers who are World Champs!!!  South Africa’s Jeffrey Toplis (14 years old), and Kentucky’s Kalem Tippett (17, pictured to right) persevered through Sunday’s less then optimum condistions at Alabama’s Logan Martin to win their respective age divisions at the 4th annual Junior World Bassmaster Championship. With the win, each angler took home a fully rigged bass boat & $5,000 in scholarship money & a trip to Disney World.  Unfortunately the qualifier from my jr. club did not have a great, did not weigh a fish, buts sounds like he learned a ton from fishing two days with Mike Wurm and look forwards to watching the rest of the Classic events this week.  Knowing Cody, this will not be his last trip to the JWC

Also, congrats to Aaron Hastings on his big win at Lake Travis this week, I believe this is his first major victory, I hope to have pattern & lure information later this week.

BassFanArmy.com opened its registration for FREE Life Membership, better check it out….

My FLW Fantasy opener was solid, 7th in my group and 700 something overall, I look to build some momentum going forward

Also, finally some info the WBT on the winning pattern from Amistad:
It sounds as though Juanita Robinson caught here monster bag to make the come back by casting a JDC Gibroni (Senko Style Bait in daiquiri and watermelon). across a channel that dropped into 22ft of water, the Gibroni was paired with a 1/32oz Parasite Weight Clip to get it down to the fish.  The previous days catches were on Vertical Lures Tube-X (grn pumpkin) and Lucky Craft Pointer (chart shad) and all her baits were doused with CB’s Hawg Sauce.

Until tomorrow….

Misc. Bass Fishing Ramblings

Got a couple things to share, none of them important enough to get their own post:

1. Congrats to Juanita Robinson on the big WBT season opener win, but I am disappointed with the coverage, cannot find any info on baits or patterns, I am not sure why BassFan does not cover these.

2.  Got my Stay’NCharge system installed into my boat last night, needless to say I will never have to worry about running out of juice during a long day on the water again.  More on that later, if you cannot wait, drop me a line & I will fill you in.

3. Got my latest order in from Optimum Baits today, looking to get pics up in the next day or two for you all to check out.  Got several swimbaits, some new furbit frogs, cool topwaters and few other surprises

4.  Just saw Edwin Evers new ride on BassFan.com in their Dock Talk, it is a must see.
Well that is it for now…..
